Professional Development

Welcome to my practice! I'm Lauren, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a unique blend of skills. I hold a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from The Adler Graduate School. I've got specialized training as a Qualified Mediator as well as a Parenting Consultant. With 15+ years of experience, my approach is straightforward: I'm here to help you improve your relationships and emotional well-being. Life can be challenging, and I provide a safe, judgment-free zone where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings. Whether you're dealing with relationship issues, personal growth, or life's stresses, I'm dedicated to helping you find solutions.

Therapeutic Approach

I have a direct therapeutic approach. This approach is characterized by its straightforward and explicit nature in addressing the client's concerns and needs. In this approach, the therapist actively engages with the client, providing clear and concise feedback, guidance, and interventions. The therapist is unreserved in expressing observations, insights, and recommendations, aiming to facilitate rapid progress and resolution of issues. This approach emphasizes open communication and transparency, allowing clients to gain a deeper understanding of their challenges and providing them with practical strategies for coping and healing. By cutting through ambiguity and addressing issues head-on, the direct therapeutic approach can empower clients to make meaningful changes in their lives and achieve their therapeutic goals efficiently.

Modalities

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy: CBT is a widely used approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to mental health issues. It is often used to treat anxiety, depression, and various other disorders.
  • Person-Centered Therapy: Emphasize personal growth, self-actualization, and the importance of the therapeutic relationship. These therapies encourage self-awareness and self-acceptance.
  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy: Mindfulness-based therapies incorporate mindfulness meditation and techniques to help individuals manage stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy: DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. It is primarily used to treat conditions involving emotional dysregulation.
  • Trauma-Informed Therapy: This approach recognizes the impact of trauma on mental health and emphasizes safety, trust, and empowerment in the therapeutic process.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy: SFBT is a short-term, goal-oriented approach that helps individuals identify and work toward solutions to their problems rather than delving into the problem's origins.
